    HAH - I had exactly that experience couple days ago - crunchy orange leaves are a bit of a rarity in the usually sodden weather here - but we've actually had a dry one this year and in walking through a pile, I heard the crackle of them underfoot and immediately was cast back fifty years... see what you evoked??!! YAM xx

  2. Nicely written Janice. This tanka for sure brings back memories of years ago. The sweet sound of crunching leaves and that sweet perfume of autumn ... ah ... I sense autumn.

    1. Missed the mark on the love letter. If I changed the childhood line to "tender memories of you wash" then change your to my in the last line, it might work...
