Carpe Diem #1808 LOVE acrostic challenge Dodoitsu is a form of Japanese poetry developed towards the end of the Edo Period. Often concerning love or work, and usually comical, Dodoitsu poems consist of four lines with the syllabic structure 7-7-7-5 and no rhyme or metre. Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #104 Photo-shopping Haiku "Camellia" (Yosa Buson) Illustrated version of Basho's "Narrow Road Into The Deep North" with haiga by Buson Here is the haiku to "photo-shop": tama-suri-no zayu ni hiraku tsubaki kana Unfolding at the hand of the glass polisher: a camellia! © Buson (1716-1784) Any one who visited my different blogs may be aware that I worked in and around computer graphics for decades.  Once I retired I took on the project of scanning my mother's many photos.  I began using photoshop to repair the damages to photos.  Missing parts, speckles, mildew damage, etc. were removed, added or repaired.  Thirteen years has seen an improvement in my use of the photoshop tools.  Sometimes nothing more than straighten the photo is all that is needed.  Can I improve or slightly adjust Buson's haiku?  We shall see. Carpe Diem #1665 Tan Renga Challenge Month May 2019 (12) "special" Basho "Miscanthus bud" Each season has that special something.  Spring brings such beauty and welcome relief from the cold. Carpe Diem #1481 Coffee Break found on Tumblr In the small farming community near my Hubby's home town coffee was served year round.  I was befuddled by this as I was from the 'iced sweet tea' drinking south.  Never did I see coffee served to the field hands during summer months, always water with that huge chunk of ice.  When I asked Uncle Pete why they drank coffee instead of a cool drink his answer was quick.   "A hot drink makes it feel cooler outside." that aroma floating on the summer breeze signals break time ©    petra domina Thanks to Chèvrefeuille for daily prompts on CARPE DIEM HAIKU KAI

Carpe Diem Crossroads #12 young birds are raised Our most gracious host for this group has given to us another challenge. "... The task is to create a so called "fusion"-haiku from the given haiku. With that task you create a symbiosis between the two haiku."  This is going to be extra challenging for me as just yesterday a young mockingbird was learning to fly.  It landed in our large container garden.  It seemed lost.  I moved to close to it and away it awkwardly flew.  The young wings were carrying it only a meter or two with each attempt.  If was, however, quickly into the road.  Before I could rise and get to the bird a car passed over it.  Fortunately no wheel made contact.  Four or five more attempts had the bird across the street and to safety.  Within minutes it had moved out of sight completely. fountain trickles hedge branches conceal the young white tipped wings falter ©    petra domina Her...
