Carpe Diem Seven Days Before Christmas 2016 #7 Twas The Night Before Christmas


All it took was the title for me to be transported to another time and place.  A time when I was maybe 11 and the place was a small country school.  It was Christmastime so that meant a Christmas program.  Not sure why but Mrs. Bourland selected me to memorize the poem featured in today's challenge.  I am not able to recall all the stanzas but a few still come to mind....

innocence
searching the skies
the guiding star
twinkles a message 
of love and peace

new ways

Carpe Diem Writing and Enjoying Haiku #6 new ways T his has been the year when Hubby and I along with a whole bunch of other folks celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary . We actually started the celebration back at the end of June, our actual 'date'.  It continued with a trip to France. Returning home we began working on The Party that was delayed till the grandsons returned from a summer in Canada. As we have friends our own ages, they, too, are celebrating 50 years.  That means more trips.  Unexpected strength of hurricane Harvey resulted in Hubby and I choosing to downsize even more.  And how do two people stay together for 50 years of marriage?  Well, forgiveness, understanding and a willingness to step together into the unknown of new ways. fifty years with the same man always something new keeps me guessing what's next? © petra domina Thanks to Chèvrefeuille for daily prompts on CARPE DIEM HAIKU KAI   ...
