it’s so rotten
no other dogs enjoy
old jokes with me

rolling eyes across their face
a punchline too deep for dogs

wagging tails
slapping the barroom floor
mimic clapping hands

evening sky filled with
pastel brushstrokes 

gusty air
birds huddled along the wire
a chorus line

knuckles along the tree branch
flexing in the stormy night

rolling over
the panda smiles with delight
bamboo snack

the glassy pond is filled
with pastel clouds and frog songs

knock knock
what requires a greeting?
a woodpecker

      It was fun just to look out the patio door and let my mind go! When I read the one Jane had it appeared to just be a series of independent thoughts. So I gave it a go!

new ways

Carpe Diem Writing and Enjoying Haiku #6 new ways T his has been the year when Hubby and I along with a whole bunch of other folks celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary . We actually started the celebration back at the end of June, our actual 'date'.  It continued with a trip to France. Returning home we began working on The Party that was delayed till the grandsons returned from a summer in Canada. As we have friends our own ages, they, too, are celebrating 50 years.  That means more trips.  Unexpected strength of hurricane Harvey resulted in Hubby and I choosing to downsize even more.  And how do two people stay together for 50 years of marriage?  Well, forgiveness, understanding and a willingness to step together into the unknown of new ways. fifty years with the same man always something new keeps me guessing what's next? © petra domina Thanks to Chèvrefeuille for daily prompts on CARPE DIEM HAIKU KAI   ...
