time
Carpe Diem #1124 time
a moment in time
sun reflected from the dewdrop
resting on the rose
just outside her window
remembering his soft touch
time
flowing like a stream
here but an instant
swept away in the roar
of life
As one ages it is so easy to slide into the past. To live in the past moments of joy brings comfort from the aches, pains and loneliness of old age. One sees it time and again with parents, aunts, uncles. Then it begins with peers. Oh, that seductive siren of life lived. Or a future of which we never reach. . . . . or for which we no longer hope.

That last line is so strong - love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Birgitta.
DeleteYes the last line is very powerful about time "swept away in the roar of life" sure true.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend.
I think us on this side of 70 understand this. But I really love this time of life that provides time to not be in such a rush. Thanks for your kind comment.
DeleteI love the simile of time as a stream, Janice, which seems to flow some of the time but you can easily be 'swept away in the roar'. As long as the stream keeps flowing, we can't stagnate.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! That is what is so great about writing!
DeleteThe best - present. One has to enjoy it most! I try. Loneliness and solitude are different things you know....Who tells our story? Only we.
ReplyDeleteEvery day - milestone, even if a small one... Hugs.
I can tend to be in the moment a lot and see humor is the smallest of things. Of course that means I do not always think through my actions... : - )
DeleteA beautiful post... both the poems and your insights at end!
ReplyDeletePleased you appreciated the post.
DeleteLove both...the first is so tender and the second, makes me hearing a babbling brook...the stream flows and here just a moment yet the memory of the sound is timeless:) x
ReplyDeleteGlad you could enjoy. Thanks for the kind comments. xx
