Carpe Diem Weekend-Meditation #16 Only The First Line "steel blue night"

Our host gave us a choice of five different first lines with which o be inspired and write a haiku.  I chose 'with the passing spring'.  He, also, challenged us to write a troiku using the first line, lost in the corn field.

with the passing spring
weathered oak once more buds
shiny leaves abound

lost in the corn field
small whirlwind gathers
withered stalks

lost in the corn field
the fledgling calls in vain
vulture circles

small whirlwind
gathers strenght
dusty funnel

withered stalks
trampled in the stampede
worm fodder

have to confess I was confused by your not using 'the first line'...as per the title. It was only by going to Chev's page and seeing so many first lines given that I caught your drift. The one line you chose NOT to use is the one in your title! What you did with the others though, is lovely. YAM xx

  3. Hi Janice,
I loved your lost in the cornfield haiku and troiku. I particularly liked the withered stalks and whirlwind imagery. And especially the alliteration!

    1. Well, that was a vision straight out of my childhood. There was a cornfield east of our house. I can still see the cornstalks rising up in a slow circle into the sky.
