Carpe Diem #1026 Smile

[...] "Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is
the beginning of love." [...] Mother Teresa

Mom smiling as she holds her
youngest great-grandson, Oct. 2014.

My mom was one of those women who always had a joke to share.  When people outside the family comment on my parents they never fail to mention what fun they were.  "Always a smile and so welcoming" was a common comment.  Both parents were what we call here in the southern US cutups. There are lots worse things that could be left as a legacy in this world than to known as a couple of cutups.  Though Oldest and Middle Grandsons never knew my folks, they have the same bright, welcoming smile.  Even in Mom's last few weeks she was still telling jokes to the nurses and doctors.

Mom barely smiling.  She had lost the sight in her
right eye three weeks before this photo.  Then
she fell, braking her wrist 17 days later.  And
she still tried to keep smiling.  She was 96.  She
passed away 34 days later, Jan. 28, 2015.

    1. It was just what came to mind with the prompt. The haiku came first then decided to tell the story behind it.
