Today we are looking at the first line of the Latifa Prayer, 'I exist'.  What is its meaning and relation to haiku?  I suggest you read the full post here.  Learning as much as everyone on this journey.

my response or journey
i exist
Ever wonder at what point self awareness happens?  Is it in the womb?  Or when we take our first independent breath?  The first infant cry of discomfort could be the moment.  But who knows!  I surely do not remember my first moment of that awareness.  Whenever it was it was certainly the beginning of the journey.  Many years of childhood are spent gaining the experiences of 'i exist'.  Think of the delight of a child bursting bubbles, "I exist and that exists.  I'll touch it and it no longer exists. "  That surprised look is the moment we discover our existence has an influence on others.

I am?

  1. What a wonderful response Janice ... When I was a child I learned that I was a gift to my parents from our Creator. When was it that I started to exist? I believe my existence started right at the moment my first cells were created in my mothers whomb. Later as I grew up I started my existence when I took the path to become aware of whom I am ... a path full obstacles but I always knew that I finally would find why I exist ... to serve others out of unconditional love, to see God in all and everyone and in myself ... Now I am who I am just a man ... humble and full of unconditional love.
Thank you for your wonderful thoughts and tanka.

    1. I bow in your presence, my master teacher. I remember a point while searching for my purpose I realized the Creator smiled at my conception because my purpose was to help people smile and laugh. A much needed thing in the grim moments of time. So many nurses I know say what you said, it was just always what they wanted to do, their calling as some say. The world needs all the unconditional love we can offer. thanks for taking time to visit this post. Such a kind host are you.

Well... I write an entire blog about the Truth of Self and Existence... but I surely love your take on it for this exercise! I admire haiku so very much, but rarely attempt it myself. YAM xx
