blackberry summers

Carpe Diem Tan Renga Challenge Month May 14th 'taste of nature' by Sara McNulty

Cousin and Hubby have the bond of their twin parents.  Hubby's dad and Cousin's mom were a birth with a surprise bonus for Grandma back in 1916.  'Hardly enough diapers for one little own two', Grandma one mused.  Cousin's Mom had died too young leaving her three small children ages 2, 4 and 5 in the care of their father.  Grandma, aunts and uncles stepped up to care for the little ones.  On the downside of middle age, Cousin recalled summers spent with Grandma.  Wild blackberry bushes were abundant in the rocky soils of the hundred year family farm.  Berry picking was such a treasured memory for Cousin.  But more so the berry cobblers made by Grandma

    1. I am not sure it is humor as much as the reality of berry picking!
