belly growls

I (Chèvrefeuille) think in the Latifa Prayer it's about that first kind of love, unconditional love for all and everything. That love stays a mystery ... you can not go on a quest for that kind of love .... that kind of love overcomes you unexpected.

everlasting love
like a river flows onwards
uncertain of its goal

Love is about your deepest desires, let your heart speak ... and not your mind.
The last line of the Latifa Prayer "I am prepared" connects you to all and everyone around, it connects you with the desires you want.

As I sit in my comfortable home with my husband, my desires are minimal. Our son has reached a degree of success professionally.  His new mate leaves him smiling more than he did for many years.  The grandsons give us hugs, high fives and knuckle bumps without having to ask, well, most of the time.  Our parents are at peace after years of suffering with declining health.  Sure, I still think about the next big trip but not with the passion of past trips.  The past 3 years have been very self serving in many ways.  My outreach has diminished.  Is it time for me to begin that outreach again, to put others ahead of me? Am I prepared?  Have I again reached the passionate desire to love unconditionally?

in the maze
the mouse searches
with a keen nose

in pursuit of life desires
heeding only belly growls

nest of hatchlings
snuggle 'neath feather's warmth
dawn brings peeps for food

in pursuit of life desires
heeding only belly growls

juvenile antics
boisterous robin
begs mom for food

in pursuit of life desires
heeding only belly growls

new nest built
red robins meet their mate
an egg laid each day

in pursuit of life desires
heeding only nature's call

peeps for food
searching with heads askew
worms calm belly growls

with no thought of one's own needs
can one hear the belly growls?
